Cornstarch Clay - pliable material for making sculptures to keep
Materials Needed:
-
2 cups cornstarch
-
1 cup salt
-
2 cups baking powder
-
2 cups water
Cook on medium heat, stirring
constantly When it starts to
turn to dough remove it from the heat and continue stirring until it all
turns to dough.
Let cool before starting to play with the dough. Once you can handle it, knead it into a smooth dough. Treat it just like play dough: roll it, shape it, use cookie cutters, or moulds, layer colours or create sculptures. After you make your shapes leave them to dry and they will set hard. Don't forget to make holes in beads etc or embed jewels and other things before the clay sets.
When the shapes are dry they can be painted or you can add food dye to the original mixture.
Store any unused dough in a ziplock back so that it does not dry out.
You can create flat or sculptured shapes like the examples below.
